Wow, so this has made us feel old. Old and unsuccessful. 18-year-old
Justin Bieber has just graduated from high school. And in case you
didn't realise, he's already the most famous and successful teenager on
the planet.
The high school graduate said of his whopping achievement, "I just
finished high school. I passed my test - I'm free! It was hard work
doing school and work every day."
No kidding. Apparently he carried on with his school work even though
he could technically afford to go and live in a solid gold castle
throwing solid gold rocks on unwanted visitors for the rest of his life.
Why bother? Well, because his mum (or mom), Pattie Mallette, wanted him
to have a "back up plan".
ISN'T WORLD DOMINATION ENOUGH FOR YOU, PATTIE?
Biebs said, "School was something my mom really wanted me to do, so I had to do it for her.
"I mean, this kind of lifestyle has given me a different perspective
on life. I've been able to travel the world. At school, usually you have
to do a lot of writing and reading. I'm really not into that stuff. I
like to be out there!"
Let's recap: "at school usually you have to do a lot of writing and
reading. I'm really not into that stuff." Yet he still managed to work
hard enough at all his school stuff while being an internationally
successful pop star. We feel a bit depressed, we'll be honest.
He just performed his new single Girlfriend on the final of the US version of The Voice and apparently it went down a storm. As it would - he's a consummate professional even though he's only 18.
Do you want to know what we've achieved today? We just managed to
whistle the entire EastEnders theme tune without taking a breath.
We're absolutely thrilled that we
went to school.
Rihanna has become infamous for her Twitpics and Instagram uploads. Ever since she posted a picture of herself sitting on her bodyguard's shoulders playing with some white powder on his head while at Coachella, everyone's been waiting like slavering gossip hounds for the next snap.
And
then this morning she uploaded this one. When someone asked where she's
been as "You been quiet all day", Rihanna replied with this picture of
her arm with an IV attached - with no other comment or caption.
It's
definitely her arm because we recognise the elaborate nail painting job
that she got before attending the Met Gala on Monday night. Rihanna's manicure meant she was late to the shindig and missed her slot on the red carpet - leaving Vogue editor Anna Wintour livid.
A few hours after posting the IV picture she uploaded a pic
of herself standing by a plane with the caption, "My ride home NY days
LA nights #itwuzreal" so she's obviously not in hospital - or at least
not anymore.
This isn't the first time the 23-year-old singer has posted a
picture of herself with an IV attached to her arm though. In November
last year she tweeted an almost identical picture after being
hospitalised with severe exhaustion.
She was forced to cancel a
show in Sweden and tweeted, "I am sorry to eevryone who was coming out
to my show in Malmo, Sweden. I was so excited to perform for you all.
"It
would have been a great time...so much better than being sick with the
flu. Ugh! I'm really disappointed I couldn't be there."
Is she exhausted again? It wouldn't surprise us - the girl never stops. She makes Simon Cowell look like a bum.And then, even after having a drip in her arm she had to get
straight onto a plane. Even though it was clearly a private jet we're
pretty sure flying around with an IV stuck to your arm isn't much fun.
And even if she'd just taken it out the thought of it having been in
there is enough to make us want to do a little sick in our mouths.
Still,
sitting on a private plane must be better than sitting in economy. The
last flight we got we shared our seat with a woman with trench foot.
He's kept a fairly low profile and kept his personal life under wraps ever since his multiple infidelities hit the headlines. But
last week, Tiger Woods surrounded himself with temptation once again as
he partied in Las Vegas - the city which became the epicenter of his
adultery a few years ago. The fallen golf ace was snapped in a private cabana at the Liquid pool party at the city's Aria Hotel.
Back to the scene of the crime: Tiger Woods was
snapped in a poolside cabana in Las Vegas - the city which sparked his
multiple affairs - as he relaxed with friends as a party
The shot, obtained bytmz.com, shows Woods, 36, with his baseball cap on backwards as he clutched his phone. Flanked
by bodyguards, he made a very low key entrance through the back and
hung out in the private area chatting and joking with friends. But
according to onlookers, he was the centre of attention with many of the
bikini-clad beauties at the party, who began 'fighting to get his
attention'. A source told The New York Post: 'There was a frenzy... many girls were
trying to get up to his cabana, but were unsuccessful.' So it would appear that Woods has curbed his womanising ways as the source added that he was 'more
interested in the people he was with'. Woods
was actually in the city for his annual Tiger Jam concert which raises
money for his foundation which helps disadvantaged children in the US. Headline this year's event was Jon Bon Jovi who was snapped with the sportsman backstage.
Split: Tiger with his then wife Erin Nordegren in 2006 - she divorced him in 2010 after he admitted to a string of affairs
And Tiger told those attending: 'Jon has done a lot for our foundation. We are thankful to him and to you all for your support.' Las Vegas played a huge role in Tiger's infidelities, which came to light in 2009. In
November that year, it was revealed that he had cheated on his wife
Erin Nordegren with club hostess Rachel Uchitel and in the month that
followed, dozens of other women came forward claiming they too had had
sex with him.
The first lady: Rachel Uchitel initially denied her affair with Woods
He then reportedly confessed to sleeping with more than 120 women as he sought treatment for sex addiction. In
February 2010 - six months before Erin divorced him - Tiger held a
press conference during which he apologised for his actions and said: 'I’m deeply sorry for my irresponsible and selfish behaviour. I was unfaithful. I had affairs. I cheated. I
knew my actions were wrong but I convinced myself that normal rules did
not apply. I thought I could get away with whatever I wanted to. I was
wrong. I was foolish.'
Forgive me: Tiger is comforted by his mother Kultida after his televised confession
Sometimes girls just want to have fun - just ask Vanessa Hudgens and Selena Gomez. Both starlets appeared to take great pleasure from uncharacteristically flaunting their fabulous figures in a new photoshoot. The
ladies, along with co-stars Ashley Benson and Rachel Korine, seemed to
be having a blast while posing in a variety of candy-coloured bikinis.
Bikini babes! Selena Gomez, Ashley Benson, Rachel Korine and Vanessa Hudgens (l. to r.) pose for an Interview magazine shoot
They’re being hailed as 'Girls Gone
Wild' by Interviewmagazine and from the looks of these bikini-clad shots , they’re living up to the title.
Gomez, 19, struck a sexy pose in a skimpy peach top and turquoise bottom for the Interview magazine shoot.
She plays Faith, an aptly named religious teenager who succumbs to the bad influence of her best friends.
Gun crazy: James Franco points guns at Benson and Hudgens' heads in this provocative shot
Justin Bieber's girlfriend told the
magazine that playing against type was exciting, saying: 'I mean, I'd
never smoked a cigarette before in my entire life. 'It was really funny - they had to show me how to do it.'
She added of taking on the role: 'It was a
mark thing for me — like, ‘This is what I want to be doing.’ I want to be
taking myself seriously as an actress, and this was definitely a
stretch.'
Spring Breakers stars: The ladies shot a beach scene for their upcoming film in Florida this past March
Easy riders: Gomez, Korine and Benson hopped on scooters in St. Petersburg, FL
Hudgens donned her character's blonde wig for the shoot, as well as a hot pink and orange printed two-piece.
The 23-year-old plays a 'crazy party
girl' named Candy, of whom she has said 'She's the one I feel kind of
gets everyone going and pushes everyone a little bit.'
Both Hudgens and Benson also appear in one shot with a virtually unrecognisable James Franco pointing guns at their heads.
A British family who lived in the
overseas territory of Bermuda for 20 years were ordered to leave because
its government is clamping down on immigrants from the UK. Stephen
and Kirsty Tomlinson and their two children were given barely a month
to get off the North Atlantic island after his workplace burned down. Now
the couple have swapped sandy beaches and sunshine for concrete and
drizzle after returning to Mr Tomlinson’s home town of Hull, east
Yorkshire. They were
ordered to leave despite their daughter Holly, 12 and son Joseph, six,
being born in Bermuda, a British overseas territory in the North
Atlantic.
Dream over: Stephen Tomlinson, with his wife
Kirsty and children Holly, 12, and and Joseph, six, near their new home
in Hull. The couple were ordered leave Bermuda last month after Mr
Tomlinson's business burned down
Mr Tomlinson had worked as a
spray painter, while his 41-year-old wife ran a beauty therapy business
and had clients including Catherine Zeta Jones and Michael Douglas. Mr Tomlinson, 45, said: ‘My daughter is crying herself to sleep at night and the kids ask ‘When are we going home, Daddy?’
GOVERNMENT STRAINING AGAINST PUBLIC SUPPORT FOR UK RULE
Bermuda
is the oldest of Britain's Overseas Territories. Its Parliament first
met in 1620, making it the oldest Commonwealth legislature outside the
British Isles. Though
Bermuda exercises a great deal of autonomy over its own affairs, the UK
Government remains responsible for its external relations, defence and
internal security. The
question remains of whether the territory should cut its links with
Britain, but the last time a referendum was held - in 1995 - only a
quarter of the 58 per cent turnout voted for independence. Its
current government, led by premier Paula Cox and her Progressive Labour
Party, is in favour of independence - but the most recent opinion polls
have consistently shown large majorities against it.
‘I don’t understand how they could do
this to us after we’d been there so long. We had to sell all our
belongings and get out, despite having worked hard and paid our way.’ Stephen had friends fight for their right to stay but the Bermudan Government refused to be swayed. He
fears more ex-pats could be ordered to leave Bermuda as its government
tightens up immigration and has called on the Foreign Office to
intervene . While Bermuda
has granted permanent residency to Britons living on the island since
1989, the couple missed the cut-off point by just two years. In
2010, the Government announced it would make it harder to gain and
renew work permits in a bid to boost employment among citizens of the
island. Only highly-trained
foreigners with particular skills are being granted work permits.
Painters and beauticians are among occupations that are among those
professions that are 'proscribed'. The territory has even provided tax relief to those
firms who employ previously jobless Bermudans, who accuse British and
other immigrants of marginalising them. The
Foreign Office says it is unable to stop the island’s Government
forcing Britons to give up their jobs and sending them back to the UK. Mr
Tomlinson said: ‘There are still people from Hull out there and more
Britons will be sent home. You build a life up only to get kicked out.'
Happier times: The Tomlinsons and their children playing on the beach near their former home in Bermuda
He was 24 when he moved to the group of islands in the North Atlantic Ocean from Garden Village in east Hull in 1991. He met Kirsty, of Goole, who was also on a work permit and the two later married. Mrs Tomlinson said: ‘Stephen’s heart was in Bermuda and it is a lovely country. ‘My roots are in England and I class it as my home but I’ve learnt so much on the island.’ The couple’s dream life came crashing down when Stephen’s place of work burnt to the ground last year. Mr Tomlinson said: ‘We were all made redundant but the local paper ran a story saying people were prepared to help us find work. ‘Luckily,
I still had job offer and I decided to take work at a Mercedes
dealership.I applied for my annual work permit and it was declined. ‘We didn’t know what to do and everyone said it would be sorted but it wasn’t.’ Stephen
was sent a letter from the Department of Immigration, which advised him
to settle his affairs, giving him a deadline of less than a month to
leave the island. The
letter stated: ‘The Minister of Economy, Trade and Industry, after
having reviewed the request, has refused the application. 'You are now being advised to settle your affairs, together with your family and leave Bermuda.’ The family are being backed by Conservative MP Andrew Percy, who is vowing to take their case to ministers. However, they know it is very unlikely they will be able to return. Mr Percy said: ‘Although Bermuda is a British colony, it has control over its own immigration system. ‘It’s
completely unjust that the Tomlinson family should be cheated in this
way when they have lived there for so long. I will do everything I can
to help them.’
